I ran into artist, Jean Betancourt in the East Village over the weekend. I haven't seen her for a long time and when I told her how wonderful she looked, she replied, "I'm not even in full regalia today." Check out Jean's wonderful portfolio HERE.

I ran into the always stunning Lana Turner in Lincoln Center. She only had a minute to pose before heading off to meet some friends for some summer swing dancing.
A Color Story
Thursday, June 26, 2014
I always wear a lot of color. I was raised in sunny San Diego and bright colors have been a staple in my wardrobe ever since I was a little kid. Since moving to New York six years ago, I have received a lot of reactions to my colorful ways of dressing. I have heard everything from "Are you on vacation?" and "Have you just come from the beach?" to "Your colors made my day." It's interesting to hear how many people are actually afraid of wearing color, especially in New York City.
When I saw these two wonderful women walking through Lincoln Center I had to stop them and tell them how much I loved their fantastic expression of color. I hope they inspire us all to dress a little more colorfully.
Are any of you afraid of wearing color or do you embrace dressing bold and bright? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

How To Live to 103
Friday, June 20, 2014
Every few months I go visit my dear friend Ruth Kobin to see what she's been up to. As I entered her apartment last week, she rolled out her exercise and greeted me with a big hug. After a quick lunch we got down to business. We played an hour's worth of Bananagrams and Ruth beat me every time. I asked Ruth what motivates her to stay so strong and she replied that she loves her life and her family. Check out some of her inspiring words below:
I have been active my whole life and I'm not going to stop now. I have to live up to the expectations of my daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters.They say I am their role model.I don't
always feel like a role model, but I try and not let a day go by without doing something. On a good day I do 40 minutes, bad days 10. But i do something everyday even if I don't feel like it. I roll out the mat and incorporate Pilates with some physical therapy. The only thing I miss out being this old is going to the ballet and theater all alone. It's too hard to get a taxi when the crowds let out.

The Joy of Color
Tuesday, June 17, 2014
I met Joy at a street fair in Lincoln Center dressed in the most wonderful colors. We stopped to talk for a moment about style and its affect on the people around us. Joy shared with me the following words:
My late husband grew to get my style although did ask why he never saw anyone else who dressed like me. I told him it was because I was so unique. Being a widow now for more years than seems possible, I have wondered if my manner of dress puts a lot of people off. I might like to meet someone, but will not change anything about myself to make it happen. It's like breathing, in my world. I couldn't live without it.

At Lincoln Center
Monday, June 16, 2014
I met this striking woman while walking through Lincoln Center over the weekend. It looks like she could have just walked out of the pages of a fashion editorial with her perfectly coiffed hair, incredible orange lenses, and beautiful suit and accessories. I love walking around the city and finding so much inspiration on the streets. This woman is true original.
Outside Barney's
Friday, June 13, 2014
I ran into Tziporah Salamon in front of Barney's on a rainy day in New York. She was looking for blue and white shoes to complete one of her stunning ensembles and found a great pair on sale. I always love spotting Tziporah riding her bike around in town in the most wonderful outfits.
A Vintage Suit
Thursday, June 12, 2014
I have run into Roz several times walking down Madison Avenue and she always looks perfectly elegant in a wonderful suit and hat. Roz told me a quick story when I asked to take her photograph. She said that her grandson asked her the other day why she was so different from all the other grandmothers. Roz answered, "Maybe its because I fee like I'm 35 inside."

Debra and Stan are a stunning duo no matter the season. One of their favorite past times is shopping at their local thrift stores and bargain hunting for creative additions to their wardrobes.
Asbury Park
Monday, June 9, 2014
Growing up in San Diego, my family and I spent a lot of time on the beach during the summer. I always looked forward to seeing my grandmother's bright and colorful beach outfits. We had so many wonderful summer memories together.
Yesterday I went to Asbury Park, NJ where I photographed this lovely lady. She reminded me of my grandmothers with her floral shirt and matching gold sandals, hat, and jewelry. I can't remember a day when my grandmothers didn't look perfectly glamorous. Even for a day at the beach.

Ilona Heads To Provincetown
Thursday, June 5, 2014
I met up with Ilona right before she headed to Provincetown for the summer. She told me that she can't wait to swim in the sea and take in all the colors and warmth of Cape Cod. I always miss Ilona during her summers in P-Town, but am excited to catch up on all her adventures back in the city in September.

Red and White
Monday, June 2, 2014
I was walking around the city with some friends when a gorgeous woman passed by. My friends immediately turned to tell me that I need to photograph her. I love how all my friends and family are now taking notice of older people. I get messages from people all over the world telling me about the older people in their lives or about some incredible person that they have spotted walking down the street. Let's continue to bring visibility to the inspiring seniors in all of our communities.
